10 questions with Jaymi, Mia and Abbey from Little Quirks.
From Abbey to Mia: What is your favourite jumpsuit right now?
My favourite ‘go-to’ jumpsuit would have to be my retro white short-sleeved one from Pretty Little Thing...I love the ABBA vibes!
From Mia to Jaymi: If you were a flower, what flower would you be?
Definitely a Snap dragon!
Jaymi to Abbey: How many turtles would you own if you could and why?
Maybe 2 so they can make turtle babies!
10 questions with Jaymi, Mia and Abbey from Little Quirks.
Abbey, What made you want to get out there and be a kick arse front woman?
Why thank you very much! When I first started out I was actually quite shy, we all were. We stood very still and stared at our music haha! But I realised how much fun it is to let loose and jump around. I love to feed off the audience and get them up with us. Being on stage is definitely my time of freedom. The more we play, the more excited I am to experiment with my clothes, image and performance!
Jaymi, how do Little Quirks write their songs – what’s the process, is there one key songwriter or do you all take part?
Myself and Abbey write most of the songs. We usually write separately and finish the lyrics and basic structure by ourselves. Then we meet up with the full band and add harmonies, sometimes a bridge and extra fun parts to the song.
Who came up with the concept for the amazing video for Florence’s Town?
Good question! Our dad actually came up with the idea. The story behind Florence’s town is people trying to find and earn their way into this magical place. Which resembles the amazing Wizard of Oz! We thought it would be so much fun to do a modern take on such a classic film.
Mia, How much have you missed performing live? Exciting to see you have a bunch of gigs coming up in November!
We have missed it soo much! It is crazy to think that we haven’t performed live since March - we really miss dancing on stage and enjoying live music with everyone. We have been itching to do these gigs in November and playing locally at the Entrance League’s Club on the 21st. We can’t wait!!
If you could tour with any artist – who would it be?
Hmmmm I’d say Mumford and Sons. We have been huge fans of them for years! They have been a big influence in the way we perform and our overall sound.
What are your plans for new music over next few months?
We have some real life gigs booked which we are so excited about! We also have our brand new single ‘Someone to Hold’ coming out November 20th.
What artists have inspired Little Quirks?
Definitely a combination of Mumford and Sons, Lumineers, First Aid Kit as well as the amazing music we grew up with like The Cranberries, The Beatles and Queen! We like to take inspirations from everywhere.
How did you get to know Tim Rogers? Pretty cool that you can name drop him as a fan of the band!
Isn’t he awesome! We supported Tim a couple years ago at a little gig and we have kept connections ever since! He has been so supportive and certainly is a very cool name to drop 😎
Being a “family” band – are there any clashes, disagreements or such?
Surprisingly not! Haha! Family makes everything so easy as we can always be honest with each other and we know each other so well. Like, I know that Jaymi always has to have milo cereal for breakfast and Mia has many superstitions (she takes many photos of the time. No idea why) All the important stuff to know...
We have always been really great friends and hang out all the time outside of music so we never really have any problems believe it or not!
And a random question to finish with! Dog person or cat person?
We are definitely all dog people! Our most favourite animal!
