On Saturday the 21st of August, Melbourne musicians Gabriella Cohen, Pollyman, Hollie Joyce, Fenn Wilson, Chitra, and Jasper Jolley (Bones and Jones) will be joining forces to deliver an evening of live-streamed music in response to the unfolding humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.

Participating artists will donate all funds received on the night via paypal.me/pollyman, to a selection of charities providing immediate aid to the people of Afghanistan facing adversity, violence, and displacement due to the Taliban offensive.

Event organiser George Caroll Wilson (Pollyman) conceptualised ARTISTS FOR AFGHANISTAN late one night, when he, like many others, felt at a loss as to what he could do to help the people of Afghanistan. Faced with a myriad of canceled gigs and recording plans directly resulting from COVID 19 lockdowns and restrictions, George set out to provide a platform for his local music community to perform live while encouraging donations to a cause in dire need of support. In his own words:

“Music has always been an amazing tool to share feelings and raise awareness for important issues, and this will hopefully join the tradition of shows that have helped a good cause.”

Each artist will perform live on their respective Instagram accounts in 15-minute sets before tag-teaming the next artist to play as part of the showcase.
