A Melodic Emo Wonderland: Good Things Festival 2023 Takes Melbourne by Storm

Good Things Festival 2023 descended upon Melbourne like an emo musical whirlwind, transforming Flemington into a haven for nostalgic punks. With an eclectic lineup and an atmosphere charged with excitement, the festival proved to be an unforgettable experience for all the little black hearts and throw back side fringes.

Unfolding at Melbourne's iconic Flemington racecourse, a perfect venue for a day filled with pulsating guitar riffs and kick drums. The organisers created a seamless flow between stages, allowing festival-goers to effortlessly navigate between acts. The air buzzed with positive energy, and the diverse crowd exuded an unmistakable sense of camaraderie as everyone rocked out to some of their favourite bands from their teenage years.

Good Things Festival 2023 showcased a stellar line up including the likes of Bullet For My Valentine, Make The Suffer, Taking Back Sunday, Corey Taylor, Limp Bizkit and Fall out Boy just to name a few.

Good Things had it all, with the headlining acts shaking the ground you walked on all while being supported by some of Australia’s premier punk acts like Stand Atlantic, Slowly Slow, Spiderbait, Luca Brasi with a sneaky feature from Aussie rock legends Eskimo Joe.

Standout moments included electrifying performances by Russian metal icons, Slaughter to Prevail in an early set which kicked the day off, and an afternoon delight from Emo pioneers Taking Back Sunday that left the audience in awe as they belted out classics, Cute Without The E and Make Damn Sure. But undoubtable Fred Durst and Limp Bizkit came to the stage with a presence and performance which had Good Things Festival deep in the pit. Limp didn’t mess around, playing a heavy set with all the classics from their iconic Chocolate Start Fish Hot Dog Flavoured Water record.

Headliners Fall Out Boy closed out the evening, with one loud as hell kick ass set playing every one of their biggest and best, a set their fans would not have been upset about, and F.O.B even gave a little nod to Australian pub rockers Midnight Oil with a mid-set cover.

Good Things Festival 2023 in Melbourne was an unqualified success, providing a musical escape that transcended ages and jean sizes and brought all fans together in some of the best sing alongs of the year.

With its diverse lineup, impeccable organisation, and a palpable sense of community, the festival left another notch in the belt of Melbourne’s eclectic and strong music scene which only left punters excited to see what will come of Good Things 2024.
