WHO IS COTERIE?
Coterie is us, we’re four brothers making music that we love. We grew up on West Coast Drive in WA and originally hail from Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Coterie is a French derived word that means ‘a collective of people who have the same interests and passions’ – which sums us up perfectly!
IF SOMEONE WAS DISCOVERING YOUR MUSIC FOR THE FIRST TIME HOW WOULD THEY DESCRIBE IT?
Coterie’s music is pretty much the West Coast of where we live – imagine the first warmth of walking into summer, that feeling – suns out, blue skies, the beaches are pumping – that describes Coteries music!

Expect the feeling of nostalgia of summer and that favourite place that you and your mates go – for us that is West Coast Drive.
It’s a surf rock anthem, elements of reggae in there and more than anything – it’s just a good time!
YOU’VE RECENTLY FINISHED UP ON YOUR HEADLINE TOUR – WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE GIG? AND WHAT SONG WAS THE CROWD FAVE?
Adelaide is obviously always a party. But Melbourne was the first leg of the tour and our first headline show on the East Coast and it was absolutely nuts!
‘Cool It Down’ – the crowd knew every word, which is a crazy feeling. But the song that everyone frothed the most is ‘West Coast Drive’ – that tune sums us up as a band so well and Melbourne absolutely ate it up!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MEMORY AS A BAND?
About 12 months ago we reached out to one of our favorite bands, Six60, online – we flew over to New Zealand, jammed and wrote a few songs with them and that was the beginning of one of our favoruite seasons as a band.
We’re just about to turn three – but this was just a moment that we kind of knew, this was going to inspire us to write songs like ‘Cool It Down’ – which it did!
WHAT’S NEXT FOR COTERIE?
We’ve just finished tour and had three weeks off – we just sat at the beach in the sun! ‘West Coast Drive’ is finally out and we’re off to New Zealand to support Six60 on their stadium tour! We’re pumped!

We listen to a lot of Spacey Jane, Ocean Alley, Gang of Youths, Lime Cordiale, Meg Mac – the Aussie legends!
