Tell us about “Ant Song”, what does this track mean to you?

My recently released single “Ant Song” is about my partner, my nickname for him is Ant! I wanted the track to feel more serious and passionate - like a mature kind of love song compared to my previous single “Fern” which was all about puppy love. The single “Ant Song” is about when you find your special person, and even after the honeymoon phase has ended, there's still so much love there.

What was your creative process / production process like when putting together “Ant Song”?

I wrote it in my bedroom and it was mostly recorded in another bedroom! I had my mates Rhys and Pat help out with the production on this one. I love recording in small spaces because I feel like you can hear the intimacy through the recording. The process felt natural and it all kind of just fell out of me! Recording the song felt like I was writing down a diary entry.

What has been the most memorable moment of your musical career so far?

There have been so many memorable moments - I think the very first show of the Lime Cordiale tour took the cake because it was actually my very first gig ever! I had never performed my own music live before so I was bricking it and I remember not being able to eat, feeling like I was gonna chuck!! When I walked out and saw that the crowd was there to support me and cheer me on, I realised in that moment that I had no reason to be scared! I’ll never forget it. They were super lovely and didn’t make fun of how many times I said slay!

When did you start creating music?

I grew up singing in church when I was 6 but I didn’t really get into writing and creating music until I was 12 when I discovered poetry. We were learning about it in English class at school when I realised that I could mix my love of singing and writing. From that moment, I was literally writing songs on my guitar every chance I could get.

What have you been listening to lately?

“Bootleg Fire Cracker” - Middle Kids
“Speed Racer” - Teenage Dads
“Pegasus” - Arlo Parks and Phoebe Bridgers

What are you looking forward to most about your upcoming tour?

I think meeting everyone that listens to my music! it’s still so surreal to me that there are real people listening and it’s not just my Mum playing my songs on repeat all day lol. It means so much to me that people enjoy the songs and want to hear them live! I’ll be giving them the best show that I can possibly give! I’m also very excited to give everyone a big hug and have a little gossip after the show hehe!
