A QUICK CHAT WITH BLACK RABBIT GEORGE

Congratulations on the new single! Tell us a bit about the making of “Fingers Radio”.

Fingers Radio is... The first single off my upcoming album ‘Warren’. The result of endless days dreaming in the studio.

Being a huge part of such a popular Australian band Tijuana Cartel and balancing Black Rabbit George must be pretty intense! Do you find it challenging at times?

haha, yep, it is hectic. I feel a little like I’m built for it though. Touring can be tough, and I’ve seen a lot of talented musicians decide life on the road just doesn’t have the creature comforts one might need for a good mental balance. I seem to love it though, and on the rare occasions we have off I start new projects, record new things.

What made you choose the name ‘Black Rabbit George’?

I had a bit of an obsession with the novel ‘Water Ship Down’ as a kid. There’s the grim reaper rabbit named ‘The Black Rabbit of inli’, I like how bluesy it sounded and thought it fit

How do you think your new single ‘Fingers’ differs from your past releases?

I was going down a more stripped back singer/songwriter direction, but when I sat and thought about what it is I can bring to a song, I realised I wanted to draw on more of the little skills I’d picked up along the way of becoming a musician. The result is this new track

Tell us about your upcoming show on the Gold Coast for the release of the new song.

It’s been interesting booking shows. The HOTA venue on the Gold Coast came up with an idea to do a stripped back intimate show. It sounded perfect to me, so I just jumped on it. It will be nice to play live again.
