A Quick Chat with Cloud Cycle

Cloud Cycle's music blurs boundaries and bends realities. How do you approach creating a sound that is both unique and captivating?

We approach every song a little differently, usually using the instruments and guitar as a foundation for the track. We have a range of influences and like to keep a DIY approach to songwriting keeping it authentic and unique to us.

Your new single 'Waves of Hope' has been described as an exciting sound that keeps flowing. What do you think sets this song apart from your previous releases?

This track is faster and heavier than previous releases. We wanted to keep the energy throughout the song, with a big emphasis on the drums.

You've been praised for constructing music from contrasts, with ambient guitar licks and cinematic soundscapes. How do you balance these elements to create a cohesive track?

We like to have fun and experiment with our sound, usually starting with guitar to create the atmosphere of the track.

Can you share any memorable moments or challenges you faced while working on 'Waves of Hope'?

We wrote this song over a few years, in different settings. The chorus was written in our childhood home and we wrote the first verse in South Australia on recording trip we did. After putting the song aside for a while, we returned to it this year with a fresh perspective and completed the track.

Who are some other artists or bands that have influenced your music, and in what ways have they inspired your sound?

We grew up listening to grunge and nu-metal bands and that's where we draw a lot of our influence. Artists that we are inspired by at the moment are Deftones, Nova Twins and Ocean Grove. We feel that there's a nu-metal revival happening and we couldn't be more excited

Looking ahead, what are Cloud Cycle's goals for the future, and what can fans expect from you after the release of 'Waves of Hope'?

Releasing lots more music and playing shows and getting back on the road. We also might have a fun cover in the works, but it is on hush for now..
