A QUICK CHAT WITH DIAL DENIAL

What’s the story behind ‘Overtime’?

Dial Denial believe that so many people these days are overwhelmed, living life faster and faster with no time to slow down as if they're working overtime on just... living. 'Overtime' is about the rejection of fitting in a box and being confined to the point where the small things in life are no longer enjoyable. We live in a time where life is full of deadlines and panic and this song is all about breaking that.

Who are your greatest influences and how have they impacted you to become the songwriters you are?

Our greatest influences are Neck Deep, Stand Atlantic and Yours Truly. These artists have had a massive impact on the way we approach our songwriting as we seek to add elements that stand out in their music and replicate what we love hearing from them.  The songwriting process is unique for every artist but certain techniques and ways of writing are just some of the many things that we’ve picked up from these bands, especially in production, as we’ve learnt from working with producer Stevie Knight, who produces Stand Atlantic and Yours Truly.

Your presense on TikTok is consistent and commendable – how do you continue to produce content day in day out?

Tik Tok and social media as a whole is one of those things that has risen up in importance for the modern-day musician, it is so useful in getting your name out there so we put a lot of time and effort into that on top of all of the other things involved in being a band. We are also all massive music lovers, and we enjoy putting together content about music so that makes it easier.

What are some of your favourite on stage memories as a band?

It’s hard to pinpoint one moment but there’s nothing like playing a packed-out room or festival and seeing the faces of people enjoying your music and or singing along to the lyrics and doing it all with your best mates, what’s not to love? One recent memory that does come to mind was playing a sold-out Manning Bar in November and there were a few drunk blokes in the front really getting into it and watching them jump and dance around was a lot of fun.

How do you see yourself levelling up in 2023?

2023 is looking exciting for us, we are planning on getting back to the studio with Stevie Knight to record and release some new music to continue to reach and impact as many people as possible with our songs. 2023 is also the year we finally all turn 18 so that will open the door to many more opportunities to get on stage and we are very excited to continue playing as many gigs as possible.
