A QUICK CHAT WITH ENOLA

Tell us a bit about your new single 'Strange Comfort' - how did the song come about, and what do you hope listeners take from it?
"There is a comfort in knowing that suffering can be a universal experience. We are alone yet we are together in our aloneness" Although the track sounds somewhat disillusioned and chaotic, what I would want people to take away from it mostly would be a sense of hope and endurance, and that no matter what you're going through or how big things may seem, to hold on, because you don't know what's around the corner. The end remains untold.

What are you influenced by, and how does it impact your songwriting?
I am influenced by other creatives (musicians, painters, writers, filmmakers) & also by my dreams. Mostly though I am influenced by the world around me, the people in my life & the connections that I have with those people.

What's your creative process like?

I have no particular structure when it comes to writing music. Though I would say it's generally lyrics first, then move to guitar or piano and write/structure the song around that. Although there are definitely occasions where I'll write the music first.

'Strange Comfort' is a bit of a shift from your earlier work sonically speaking, was this an intentional choice?
Yes, definitely intentional. My current direction was influenced by the experience of performing live and playing with other musicians, something I haven't done previously. The process of building a band around me to perform live was very influential in this sonic transition, I found playing with others very joyous, so I wanted to pursue that path further. I consider myself very lucky to have the band I do, they are a constant inspiration & we have a great time playing together.

Is there anyone you would like to collaborate with? (+ why?)
One really stands out to me and that'd be Angel Olsen (which would be a total dream). I love simple yet profound way they write and I find their songs very moving.

Who is the most interesting person you've worked with or met?
That's a hard one. Though I would say the most interesting creative in my world would be Romy from RVG, I'm always so captivated when she performs and I feel like she gives you everything she has as an artist which I find very compelling and inspiring.

What can audiences expect from your upcoming single launches?
Expect a very sweaty human onstage giving you everything they've got, with a band to back that energy up. 90's shoegaze/grunge meets modern post punk.
