CONGRATS ON THE NEW SINGLE! WHAT IS 'UGLY' ABOUT, AND WHAT DO YOU WANT PEOPLE TO TAKE AWAY FROM IT?

Thank you! Ugly is about exploring that very vulnerable place we get to after starting a new relationship. When that person we have formed an attachment with sees us in all forms. I hope people connect on a level that makes them feel like it's beautiful to feel this way, even though we have been told it's ugly.

WHAT'S THE CREATIVE PROCESS FOR YOU, FROM WRITING TO RECORDING?

Generally I start with lyrics, I write a lot. When a line of a feeling sticks I sit down and figure out some chords, and work the words around into melody.

IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH ANY ARTIST, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

Waxahatchee (US). She is my favourite writer, and I see a lot of authenticity in her practice. I really connect with a lot of her music and her presence on Social Media.

WHEN NOT WORKING ON MUSIC, WHAT OTHER CREATIVE OUTLET DO YOU HAVE?

I write a lot, and paint. I also love interior design as a hobby and spend a lot of time at bedding stores and on Pinterest looking up dream homes.

WHAT ELSE DO YOU HAVE PLANNED FOR THE YEAR?

I've been working on booking shows that I feel inspired to play. Lots of cool supports and venues and things that feel good. The goal is to come back to music this year in a way that feels good for me. And maybe you can plan on a few more secret things..

IF YOU COULD CHANGE SOMETHING ABOUT THE AUSTRALIAN MUSIC INDUSTRY, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

If there was a way to regulate the work load, and for bigger entities, such as the government, to value the arts more by acknowledging the work artists and managers do.
The work load is a full time (with many over-hours..) job. The hours we do vs the expectation to be paid minimal is unsustainable.

WHAT DO YOU THINK LIFE WOULD BE LIKE FOR YOU IF YOU DIDN’T HAVE MUSIC AS AN OUTLET?

I can't imagine my life without music. I have a musical family and my friends are all musicians.. It's actually not possible.
