A Quick Chat with Jordan Briton

Congratulations on your release! What are your plans to celebrate it?

Thank you AMS! I’m really proud of this one. I’m not a big party-goer but I love to hang out with my close friends in a chill environment. I planned to invite JUNO and our mates over to my new place for some drinks and a few ‘friendly’ rounds of Mario Kart.

What is the story behind the track?

Like most moments in my songwriting process, the music side of things came first. While writing at my studio, I came across this underwater piano sample that I thought was really cool. Then, I layered some guitar licks down and then recorded the chorus melody on top “you make it so easy”. Not quite sure why that first phrase came to mind - but I lyrically explored deeper into this concept of an ‘easy’ relationship. Love can be a rocky road but when you do meet the right person, it just feels so natural, effortless, and well, easy.

For someone that hasn’t heard your music before, how would you describe it?

It’s relaxed R&B / soul music wrapped up in intimate storytelling and honest melodies. Perfect for your drive home, windows down and vibing out after a long day.

What can fans expect from one of your live show?

My live shows are a soulful escape into a world of R&B grooves and pop melodies. It’s a chill yet energetic vibe. A dynamic stage where we can share songs and stories with you all and we can dance the night away.

Congratulations on being a QLD Music Award Finalist for 2023! Can you tell us a bit about that experience and how it all came to be?

Being nominated was an incredible feeling. What put me on the map, was my second song that I ever released ‘Lights Out’ feat. Roman MC. I’ve always been a big fan of Roman’s work (frontman for Bullhorn & Life On Earth) and it was a huge honour to have him rap on this single. He was such a pro about it too - I sent him the demo a few days prior then he came by the studio and laid his verse down in under an hour! I’m grateful for our friendship and it’s awesome we got to share the experience of attending the QLD Music Awards night together this year.

What can we expect in 2024?

My 2024 vision includes: branding new ‘Jordan Briton’ merchandise to hit my online store, wrapping up my debut EP in the studio and crafting a new live show to bring on tour!
