A Quick Chat with Jordie Ireland

Jordie Ireland, congratulations on releasing your debut EP – tell me about it!

Thankyou! I have been working on this EP since 2019 and I am so stoked it is finally out! The first song we wrote for this EP was ‘Different Way’ which, in turn, felt natural to have that as the very first song on the EP.

What inspired you to release an EP on the concept of STAGES OF A HEARTBREAK?

I have always been fascinated with grief and the way in which the human brain deals with it. This concept felt perfect to be represented in song, in the form of a 5 song EP. Each song represents a different emotion I experienced during my first ever encounter with heartbreak and is conceptual in the way in which each song follows on, storyline wise, from the song beforehand.

How do you want people to feel when they listen to your EP?

Whilst I hope, by listening to this EP people don’t necessarily feel the same emotions I felt when writing each song, I hope that a lot of listeners feel some sort of comfort hearing songs about situations that many others may have experienced. If I can make one person feel like they aren’t alone in their journey through life than this project has been a success.

What’s track do you connect with the most?

I would have to say ‘Different Way’. It was the first song I wrote for this project alongside Cyrus Villanueva and Dom Youdan back in 2019. This song, I believe, is the realest and most vulnerable my songwriting has ever been. Also, the fact that this track is the first time I am ever showing the world my voice, also makes it super special to me.

What’s next for Jordie Ireland?

Now that I have released my first ever song with my voice on it, I would love to continue to sing on my tracks where possible. I feel super excited to have this addition to my artist project and I also can’t wait to perform it live!
