Collabing has been fun for me, I feel like I can tell my stories through my music, where usually I'm facilitating that in artists that I'm producing for.The best feeling is to be able to tell the writers a story of what the beats are about and you get a crazy in depth verse back the next day with your story/vision interpreted by their eyes. I guess the big difference with being an artist or producer is that I'm coming up with the vision of the song compared to following the artist's vision, which is much easier in my opinion.
A STORY OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS YOU HAVE PLANTED YOURSELF IN THE AUSTRALIAN MUSIC INDUSTRY BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR ARTISTS FINDING THEIR SOUNDS IN HIP HOP, HAVE YOU TAKEN MANY NEW INFLUENCES AND IF SO, HOW HAVE THEY AFFECTED YOUR SONGWRITING / SOUND IN THIS PROJECT ?
One big influence with my writing is Kendrick Lamar. How he constructs projects and even how he picks his beats, it always blows my mind. I feel like the lyrics mentally hit me and the beat always puts me in the feelings. I guess the ying yang between the two helps me to write whatever the genre I'm making. WAR expresses this with the powerful production mixed with emotive lyrics from Yung Shogun.
