A QUICK CHAT WITH LORETTA

Congratulations on the new single! What’s the story behind the track?

Earlier this year we went over to the UK and teed up with our mates and absolute legends Andre and Adrien Nookadu for some writing. ‘Dad’s Mercedes’ was one of the tracks that was born out of that trip. We wanted to write something youthful, powerful and something that made you want to dance.

How long have you been together for as a band?

We’ve been together since December 2018… Almost 4 years now.

What are some aspects of the band and individually as musicians that have developed from when you first started out, to now?

We’ve all grown heaps as people and friends. Your early twenties are a pivotal time as an adult and having gone through that together and in a band has been great. We feel our writing has developed a lot as well as our chemistry on stage

What are some of the most notable performances/experiences you have had?

All our recent headline shows have been killer - so memorable and such a good time.

What’s the story behind the music video for the track?

We wanted a video that could work together with the youthful nature of the track. Similarly, to the artwork, a lot of the video is on paper - we printed out huge sections of the video and drew on it with crayons and pastels. There’s a lot of energy in the video.

How do you approach the production of the tracks once they’ve been written and are there any artists that influence your sound?

It’s kind of an all-in-one process for us - we’ll basically start producing the track as we’re writing it and then come time to release it, we’ll really hone in on exactly how we want it to sound. In terms of influences, it’s such a mixed bag - we love The 1975, they've always been an inspiration to us sonically, but more recently we’ve been inspired by Dagny and Holly Humberstone.

What can we expect to see from ‘Loretta’ to finish off 2022?

We’ve got a huge tour planned for Oct/Nov, which we cannot wait for and if all goes to plan likely some more music right before we play Vanfest in Bathurst!
