A QUICK CHAT WITH MODERN LIVING

Congrats on your debut release ‘Got You Feeling’! How long has this been in the works for?
It’s almost exactly 1 year since we first reached out to Ivoris.

How did the collab with Ivoris come about?
We really want to feature Australian artists on our Modern Living songs. We are always digging through instagram, youtube and Triple J searching for artists that we think would connect with our sound. We first heard her song ‘Cocopops ‘and loved the video she made for it. We reached out to her on instagram and sent over a sketch. She picked one and that is what turned into ‘Got You Feeling’.

We’ve heard there are even more collabs to come! Anything you can share with us yet?
Yes! We are really excited to have some new songs coming up with Josh Pyke, Jordi James from San Cisco, DRAMA, Cleopold, Nick Littlemore, Nathan Ball and more!

How did Modern Living form?
A couple of years ago we started zoning in on what we wanted the project to sound like. We kept sharing playlist and inspirations with each other. We really took our time focusing on the whole concept of what Modern Living is. By the time we sat down to write the songs we felt comfortable and they started to come fast and easy. The process is really exciting because we usually push ourselves to write sketches for artists we want to work with but have an easily identifiable sound that makes a collaboration the best of both worlds.

What was the first gig you ever went to?
I was running around Chicago at underground loft parties and raves from the time I was 14. I didn’t see a proper show until Dee-Lite played at Metro. My 2nd show was David Bowie.

Which artists are on your high rotation playlist right now?
Thelma Plum, Cosmos’ Midnight, Donny Benet, Neil Frances

What are your plans for the rest of 2024?
Modern Living is the main focus for us right now. We are going to keep seeking out amazing artist to feature. I’m also about to start scoring and music supervising a new film starring Theo Rossi and Ron Perlman called ‘Come With Me’. Modern Living songs will be heavily featured!.
