A Quick Chat with Nicole Quigley

Congratulations on releasing ‘Sip of Summer’! Can you tell us a bit about the single?

‘Sip of Summer’ is a metaphor for a feeling you have that something good will come to an end but wanting to enjoy it one last time. The song sits with a sad undertone but also reflects my feeling of joy and heartbreak at the same time.

What are your influences and how do they affect your song writing?

Taylor Swift and Stevie Nicks are my major influences, lyrically I find both artists have always been so great at telling their personal stories but also depicting universal feelings that everyone goes through. Their vocals are also something I admire and the way they use their vocals to enhance their storytelling.

When you aren’t writing music, what are you doing?

I am studying my masters in primary teaching so usually I am studying, going for walks and hanging out with my friends.

What is your all-time favourite album to date?

Lemonade – Beyonce. The album is so powerful, uplifting but also a really vulnerable body of work. I am always star struck when I listen to it again and again.

Any upcoming shows that your fans can catch you at?

No not at the moment but I am wanting to gig more!
