A Quick Chat with Stem Steller

For those unfamiliar, how would you describe Stem Steller in 3 words?
Expansiveness, boldness, pleasure.

What inspired you to start making music, and how has that inspiration changed over time?
Because as individuals we bring our own personal inspirations and influences together, it becomes sort of an amalgamation of experiences from the late 00’s to early 2010’s. Just the fact it was fun and a genuine way to connect and make friends drove us to continue to pursue music.

It actually led to the bands formation, we all had a strong foundation on the idea music is about connecting and sharing. In turn, this brought us together.

Over time our taste has continually been evolving and the inspirations just open up new doors of imagination. Seeing a lot of live music has changed and added to our inspirations, seeing art through a different lens and even making music and the process of that has been what draws appreciation for other artists that we may not have had before.

Congratulations on your new single ‘Electrical Moves’, what inspired this track?
A few of us went out to the Wave Rock festival in the heart of WA’s inland back in 2023. The live bands, the location and people together created an experience and soundscape which was beautiful. It opened our imaginations and inspired a different way of approaching and writing music.
