A Quick Chat with Sunny Luwe

Congrats on the release of ‘Animal Instinct’! How did this track come to life?
I actually wrote this one after going to a Dr Joe Dispenza Meditation retreat – we meditated for more than 40 hours over the week and I remember kinda laughing at that the ridiculous of it all – and writing Animal Instinct, which feels like the opposite of a meditation retreat.

Describe your sound in three words.
Soul Pop sunshine.

What do you want your listeners to take away from this track?
Life is short. Have fun.  It’s great to want to be the best version of yourself but remember to have a good time in the process too.

Give us a fun fact about yourself.
My special talent is finding four-leaf clovers.  I have found thousands over my life, and I press them in an old text book in my bookshelf – or under my phone case.

What do you find yourself doing when you’re not making music?
Music can be pretty all-consuming at times, but I have two gorgeous Golden Retrievers with my husband, so hanging with them is really fun.  They’re the best. Plus we have amazing hikes around the Gold Coast, so getting into the hinterland always chills me out.

What’s on the horizon for the rest of 2024? Any gigs planned?
Definitely more music, so keep your ears and eyes out, and some pretty fun shows too.  We got asked to play the 10th Gold Coast Music Awards, which we were pretty chuffed about, plus we are showcasing at BIGSOUND this year with likes of Gretta Ray, Beddy Rays, and the Peking Duk boy’s solo projects: Keli Holiday and Y.O.G.A
