Congratulations on the release of ‘The Real Electric’! Can you tell us a bit about the process behind creating the track, from the writing to the recording?

The song started as a drone-y Vines style track that I wrote in my studio at home. From there, I wanted to take it into a different space and give it an Empire Of The Sun treatment, so I went down to Melbourne to work with Alex (guitarist) to round it out and give it a facelift. Later that eve we went to meet Reuben from Peking Duk and played him the track he immediately loved it and started suggesting ideas, so we asked him to co-produce the song with us and he did. We are super stoked with how it all turned out.

What are the key themes/stories in the track?

Basically, in a nutshell, it’s about taking someone that’s in a dark place or in a rough patch out of their world and bringing them into ours. Life is a strange thing and can really knock you down if you don’t stay on top of the hard times. It’s about taking a more carefree approach I guess as we only get one spin around this joint.

It’s been over 10 years since your first release ‘Talupo Mountain Music VOL 1’ in 2011, how do you feel your sound has developed since then as a band?

We have always strived. To push the sound of our releases and songs, we pride ourselves on our ability to dip into genres that may seem a little out of reach for a 4 piece primarily rock band. We have refined our song writing and gotten deeper into producing the songs and sounds as we have kept going. Keeps it fresh and exciting too.

What are some of your most notable moments as a band over the time of your career?

We have had so many pinch yourself moments and memorable times, definitely the Foo Fighters stadium we landed is up there, it was a wild time to be that close and amongst a touring set up of that calibre. Getting to record and release music and still be able to do so is very humbling for us, we feel very lucky.

What are some exciting things you have coming up to finish off 2022?

Releasing our first single in 3 years The Real Electric is a very elating experience, we are all super excited to have new music out in the world again. We are doing a small club show run to celebrate at the end of October and then we will hit the studio to finish off the album. Watch this space…
