A Quick Chat with Tyroe

Hi Tyroe! Great to be chatting with you. Tell us a bit about yourself

My name is Tyroe Muhafidin. My artist name is just Tyroe. I grew up in Perth with a love for the arts and entertainment and always wanted to be a part of it. So, from a young age I alway knew that this was what I would be doing and I’m loving every minute of it.

Can you tell us about your experience working on Lord of the Rings? What was it like being a part of such a huge cultural phenomenon?

It’s honestly such a blessing to have this opportunity and no matter how many times I say it, I’ll never truly be able to express how grateful I am for the experience. There was a lot of pressure when it came to the job and I was definitely thrown in the deep end, but I honestly wouldn’t have had it any other way, because I learnt so much about myself and who I want to be.

As someone who has worked both in the film industry and music industry, how would you compare the two experiences?

All in all, they both accomplish the same thing. Number 1 is to entertain the audience and number 2 is to tell a story. They are just done in different ways. I find writing music a lot more personal, obviously because it's about me, and my story. But, there is a particular beauty when it comes to acting as you’re telling the story of someone else, yet it feels just as authentic once you’re really into the character.

How has your experience in acting influenced your music career?

My experience in acting influenced my music immensely. I’ve never really been open to expressing my thoughts and feelings to others and with acting I was able to do that through a fictional character. While working with this character and their emotions, it made me accept my own thoughts and feelings and kind of opened a gate that allowed me to express it openly in the form of my music.

How did you develop your sound, and who are some of your biggest musical influences?
To be honest, I am definitely still developing my sound. I originally wanted to be a producer and never had intentions of performing my own lyrics on a track, so I used to really analyze the instrumentals in songs so for me that’s a huge part. Whether I’m producing the beat or not, I’m always in the room and focusing on every single detail of the song, making sure it matches the vision I have for the record. My biggest musical influences would probably be The Kid Laroi, Post Malone, and my brother Tobias.

Can you tell us about your latest single? What inspired it, and what can listeners expect from it?

Well, in a nutshell, Super Saiyan is basically about how my life has just drastically changed and I’m living a completely different life to what I was 2 years ago. I’m touring the world, going to high end events and things like that, but ultimately I’m still the same guy. Even though I’m living the “high life”, that doesn’t mean I don’t ever feel low. I’m still having the same issues as every other teen nowadays whether that's romance, mental health or self discovery.

Do you have any particular goals or aspirations for your music career, such as collaborating with a particular artist or performing at a certain venue?

I just want people to hear me. Growing up I felt like I never had a voice and I couldn’t express how I was feeling about things. But, through music I feel like I’m able to communicate my thoughts with the world and ultimately my goal is just for those that hear it can appreciate it and relate.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians who are just starting out in the industry?

I mean, I, myself am still aspiring but I think the main thing is to know who to keep close to you and don’t forget who you are, because authenticity is the greatest characteristic.
