Jacob Diamond releases new single 'Docks' + announces national tour

Following up "captivating" recent EP Um (2017), award-winning Perth alt-folk oddity Jacob Diamond is set to release new single Docks on Wednesday 31 May, with a six date national tour to follow in late June.

Loping and soft in some places but visceral and urgent in others, Docks ruminates on existential detachment in a way that's both highly personal and boundlessly universal. The first single from his forthcoming debut full-length release, Docks was penned following Diamond's "reckless detour" into the jazz world and was mixed, mastered & produced by Lachlan Carrick (Gotye, Ainslie Wills, Gretta Ray). Romantic in its language and timeless in its resonance, Docks spins simple truths for the chronically uncertain (We are what we are/And I'm ok, I guess).

Commencing in Fremantle with his band, Jacob Diamond will then play solo in Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide, with local supports from some of the most exciting names in contemporary Australian alt-folk including Stella Donnelly and Gena Rose Bruce. The Docks tour will wrap with a super-intimate show at iconic Perth café, bar & vinyl utopia Satchmo's, with the venue capped at just 35 people and tickets set to sell out fast.

Having dedicated his life to crafting bold, insightful music that "doesn't go away", Diamond's roots are planted firmly in Perth's underground scene. His twin live-to-tape EPs Chum (2015) and Um (2017) and their subsequent tours both received praise from community radio RTR and online media, with the former earning him the WAM gong for Best Folk Act. Drawing inspiration from his zealous religious upbringing, rock operas and the utter confusion that nobody seems to be able to escape, Diamond's work is open-hearted, vulnerable and warm.
