LISTEN: Lamalo – ‘Come Over’ (ft. Hayden Buchanan)
Sydney duo Lamalo have teamed up with vocalist Hayden Buchanan on a heartfelt ode to a lost love, ‘Come Over’.
The three met at a show they were both billed on, forming a creative partnership, which led them to this release.
This track has proven to be a hit amongst audiences already as the trio have been performing it live. It made sense to release the studio version.
There’s a real sense of sadness in Buchanan’s vocals as the sorrowful lyrics cut deep. Given it draws from his personal life, there’s no wonder you listen along with a heavy heart.
“The lyrics for ‘Come Over’ tell the story of a couple growing apart as they follow their own dreams. It explores the emotions of finding yourself in a long distance relationship. It is an ode to Hayden Buchanan’s ex,” Lamalo said.
Contrasting the lyrics is a flirtatious acoustic guitar melody and uplifting synths, which balance out the sadness nicely.
Lamalo’s Michiya Nagai weaves his familiar electronic sound alongside band-mate Yossi Cascun’s guitar playing, and Buchanan’s smooth vocals. The track fuses café jazz with textural electronic sounds and acoustic elements creating a unique sound.
Lamalo and Hayden Buchanan have a really smooth flow, and this could be the start of a longstanding creative partnership.
‘Come Over’ is now available everywhere now including Spotify & iTunes, and Lamalo also have this neat little live performance of the track for us all to check out as well.
