Review: Make Them Suffer - The Forum, Melbourne

Words by: Rhys Carman

Thursday night at Melbourne's iconic Forum was nothing short of mayhem. A sea of metalheads packed the venue, buzzing with raw anticipation as the air pulsed with excitement and the faint scent of beer and sweat. Make Them Suffer was in town, and the chaos was about to be unleashed!

From the moment the lights dimmed, the crowd erupted. The band's entrance was apocalyptic—hazy lights flashing as vocalist Sean Harmanis roared into the mic, kicking off a set that felt like a rollercoaster through a thunderstorm. It was fast, it was loud, and, most of all, it was fuckng hectic!

Midway through the set the infamous wall of death was on show. With Harmanis splitting the crowd into two sides, ready to clash hardcore style! As the first note of the breakdown hit, those walls slammed together, and pure, beautiful carnage ensued.

The Sydney metal ore outfit treated us to Oscillator, a blistering track from their forthcoming self titled record. The new material is a testament to their evolution, blending their signature melodic deathcore with even more intensity and razor-sharp precision.

Keyboardist Booka Nile’s haunting melodies gave moments of eerie beauty between the onslaught of heavy riffs and breakdowns. Fan favorites like “Bones” and “Vortex” had the crowd screaming every word back at the band, fists raised. The Forum, packed and. buzzing on a school night with an untameable energy, as the circle pits raged and crowd surfers soared over the writhing masses.

By the time the final encore rolled around, the Forum felt like it could implode from the sheer intensity. If you managed to leave without a bruise or a bangover, you clearly weren’t close enough to the action.
