REVIEW: TONES AND I - ROD LAVER ARENA, MELBOURNE

Tones and I’s show at Rod Laver Arena was nothing short of a surprise, blending elements of a concert, Broadway spectacle, and a vibrant visual experience. This performance defied expectations, appealing to her younger fans with the signature "Dance Monkey" rendition, while also channeling the high-energy visuals akin to a Chemical Brothers show and the intensity of a Parkway Drive concert during the pyrotechnic-laden "Bad Child."

Emotions ran deep as she dedicated "Sorrento" to her late grandfather, David—a heartfelt moment that would have made him proud. The night was filled with variety and excitement, featuring a massive cast of over 30 dancers, a choir, and a beautifully timed cover of Coldplay's "Fix You." Guest stars Adrian Eagle and Raygun added memorable flair, with Raygun’s signature kangaroo move in "Dance With Me" stealing the spotlight.

In a truly special moment, Tones performed her personal favourite, "To Be Loved," for the very first time. This performance was beautiful—definitely not ordinary—and showcased the depth and emotion she brings to her music.

Tones spoke about fulfilling her dream of performing at this hometown venue, and she more than delivered. This was one of the most memorable live experiences, a testament to the talent in Australia’s music scene. Watching her perform with such passion, depth, and versatility only confirmed her status as a true global star—someone whose impact resonates far beyond our shores. Tones and I has managed to capture hearts worldwide while staying true to her roots, bringing that unique Australian spirit to an international audience.

As the night closed with the beautiful "Fly Away," it felt clear that we're incredibly fortunate to witness a talent of her caliber flourishing right here at home. Tones, you are not just an Australian star—you’re a global phenomenon, and we couldn’t be prouder to call you our own.
