What do Boo Seeka have planned for the rest of 2020?

Hey Boo Seeka, love the new single ‘Days Get Better’!
Can you tell us a little about the inspiration behind the track?

B: The vibe of the track came from a clash of two songs getting played whilst recording. One was ‘1901’ by Phoenix coming out of Michael’s room and the other was ‘Delirium’ by Lady-Hawke blasting from a car stereo down the street. We don’t usually listen to a great deal of music when we’re writing as we don’t want to be influenced too much from an existing sound, but I couldn’t exactly tell the person to turn off the car stereo and Michael didn’t turn his off while I was writing so we just went along with it. We can only hope the days get better soon. Pretty simple concept in these current times, but no point denying it.

M: Boo wrote the song in literally 15 minutes. The best deciding factor into us jumping straight in and working on it was everyone in the house who was staying with us was singing the melody over and over subconsciously. That’s a winner in our books.

Why did it make sense to follow ‘Take A Look’ with ‘Days Get Better’?

B: At this point it probably doesn’t make too much sense to the audience but with each release will come a little bit more of an understanding. We also just really love this track and was an easy part of the puzzle to release as the second single.

M: We actually threw DGB in front of another future single, as we thought it fit the times a little better.

You’ve got a second album on the way. How has the recording process differed this time around?

B: This one has been different. Mainly because we want to obey by the government rules and our producer lives in Queensland so we can’t get to him at the moment. Writing over FaceTime has also been something we have never done before, it’s weird but we are getting used to it. Definitely going to be an album and a process we will never forget.

Is your new album shaping up to sound similar to ‘Days Get Better’ and ‘Take A Look’?

M: It’s funny because the next few singles AFTER ‘Days Get Better’ are different again. We just want people to dance, sing, feel something. There’s so much pressure in music to be ‘right’, but what’s right? We are making our own right.

B: We honestly just want to write good music that we love and hopefully everyone else will. I guess one thing we think about is letting the organic progression of our sound take place but always want people to know it’s a Boo Seeka track. We are really happy with the second album and feel we are getting better at what we do.

When the days do get a little better, what are you most excited to do?

B: Playing 365 shows straight. We love touring and everything that comes with it. Getting back on road and creating memories is what we are all about.

M: I can’t wait to hug the crew again. I think our hugs will be slightly longer from now on.

What’s planned for the rest of 2020?

M: TikTok dances.
