What’s the best thing about being DIY?

There are a trillion awesome things about being DIY, honestly. Whenever a song comes to my mind, I don’t have to wait around for others to be ready to record it down. I just get at it myself and usually this happens at crazy random hours, so I’m stoked to just capture the moment. I also get to be really proud of myself when I learn new skills like video editing and directing, and I actually find it super meditative to just go into my own space and create by myself at my own pace unhindered by my own ego to impress someone else!

What inspired your new single ‘Quick Words, Long Trouble’?

Well, a big old bad breakup. The ones where you say things without thinking and then the collateral is epic. The actual phrase though comes from a Thai saying my mum would always repeat when I was a kid. I didn’t want to write about love or heartache until I was able to find my unique way of telling a story and I guess it took some emotional rollercoasters before I could tap into my feelings.

Any city/venue in particular you’re looking forward to playing in on your upcoming tour?

 I’ve only played in Brisbane once, but blimey it was a solid gig... So I’m super stoked to be returning on this tour coming up!

How often do you find yourself writing/creating music?

 I’m creating music every day because I’d probably be bored to death without it, but as for writing, it’s a little random, i just grab the inspiration when it comes and this can be as often as 5 times in a week or as little as once a fortnight. I pretty much drop every other commitment when I have inspiration though. I’ve forgotten to eat and sleep for two days because I was writing a song once haha!

 
What’s been your favourite moment of 2019?

I had a fan drive 2 hours to come see a gig of mine this year, and she brought a bunch of mates along for the road trip too. It really chuffed me to know someone likes my songs enough to make that trek. I mean... even my family wouldn’t travel that far for my music hahaha!
