What’s a Typical day like? / How’s Lockdown been for you?

A typical day usually begins early, and is occupied with work, study and music. I will have finally completed my JD at Monash come mid-December; an exhausting yet rewarding journey. During lockdown, I was mostly preoccupied with writing and producing new music. I used lockdown as a time of reflection, and also a time in which I could experiment with my sound.

You just recently released a new single. Can you tell us more about that?

My new single ‘Boys Like Me’ was influenced by the song ‘You’re So Last Summer’ by Taking Back Sunday. I had the song practically on repeat for about a month, and wanted to write a song that touched on similar motifs. ‘Boys Like Me’ explores themes such as being undermined and under appreciated by others. This song is for anyone who has been in a position in which their self-worth has been compromised. I hope those listening, particularly males, can find solace in my work.

What was the story behind the song?

There have been several times in the past where i have found myself in a position where others, particularly intimate partners, have exploited or undermined me as a person. I learned a lot through these experiences, especially the importance of knowing your worth as a person. Most of my recent work aims to show listeners how important they are, irregardless of how others may treat them.

Which artist or performer, past or present, inspires you today?

As a musician, performer, creative, Gerard Way has been an influential figure throughout my life. I feel that his motive of helping others through the medium of music is one of the reasons for why i began music initially; i felt that i could make a similar contribution.

What moment in your musical career stands out the most?

Although my music career is rather nascent, there have still been some standout moments, such as performing for the first time, and showing friends my music. I can’t wait to perform again.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced along the way to your musical success?

I haven’t reached musical success as of yet, but i think the biggest challenge of mine thus far the ability to remove any sense of doubt, and to remain focussed and strong. There will be days where you stop believing and thinking it will never come, but i just have to remind myself that i’m doing it for those that are struggling and need a voice to relate to, and to show them that there are brighter days.

If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?

I know it sounds cliche, but the super power to fly would be pretty dope. You’d save money on petrol, and avoid traffic. Especially when you live in Melbourne. Warrigal Road is not my fiend.

Where do you see yourself five years from now?

5 years from now i’d love to be doing music full time and helping people through song. I just feel that music is such a powerful instrument that should be used to spread positivity.

What are you looking forward to, and what can the fans expect from you soon?

I’m looking forward to performing again, and more consistently. I hope further restrictions can ease so artists can perform again. People can expect new music from me from the start of next year. A new single of mine will be releasing sometime in January. I will also be releasing new music with a good friend of mine, his artist name is Ande (insta: andethebanshee).
