The DIY laneway party, now in its fifth year, has seen more than fifteen thousand punters through its gates and hosted more than seventy local and international artists, beat-makers, performers and visual artists.

Taking over of one of the city’s most recognisable laneway blocks from 2PM, ZOO’s 2017 program is set to be a 9 hour feast intersecting live music, performance and visual art.

ZOO LANEWAY PARTY LINE UP

ZOO 2017’s lineup is helmed by acclaimed hip-hop artist, Bad Apples records founder and prominent Indigenous Australian voice; BRIGGS.

Respected London based DJ and Eglo Records founder ALEXANDER NUT will be flying in for a special set alongside collaborative queen, Swedish-born and London based vocalist, FATIMA.

With sounds spanning Ethiopian jazz to Ghanian rhythms are New Zealand’s WEIRD TOGETHER; an eight piece live band led by legendary New Zealand producer/DJs Dick ‘Magik’ Johnson and Nick Dwyer.

American beatmaker AFTA-1 will be performing the Australian debut of his new live show, bringing his seminal record AFTA THOUGHTS to life with an all-star cast of local musicians led by AMIN PAYNE.

Live music treats continue with the cosmic mélange of boom-bap, neo-soul harmonies and jazzy licks from one of Melbourne’s freshest collectives 30/70, led by Allysha Joy.

19-year-old soul singer KAIIT has recently burst onto the scene with her track ‘Natural Woman’; receiving rave reviews across triple j and independent radio.

THE CORETET have built a solid reputation as one of the most eclectic rhythm sections in Melbourne; bursting at the seams with a heady mix of live funk and hip- hop.

AFRIK FUTURISM drum up a dancefloor call-to-arms with layers of West African percussion, live synths and infectious rhythms bringing a modern take to an ancient sound.

Toting forgotten funk and dial-tone classic kitsch are the cheeriest disc jockeys in town, POSITIVELY POSITIVE PARTY, who’ll be taking over two levels of Ferdydurke’s loft for a wild night time soiree. More artists are to be announced.

Melbourne based visual artist WWZRD6 will be bringing the laneway space to life, showcasing his new series on a four-storey high projection wall throughout the night.
