ENDGRAIN SHARES HIS FRAME RELAY EP
Following the release of his debut singles “4 x 4” & “Heavy Lifting” earlier this year, Sydney producer Endgrain (Jackson May) returns with his Frame Relay EP & two new singles “Soul Float” & “Summer Falls”. Having previously produced under a handful of different monikers, Frame Relay (as premiered on Complex UK) is the culmination of a year’s work for Endgrain, with the sprawling 6-track release showcasing the producer’s genre-defying work & breadth.
Taking cue from producers such as Boddika, Bonobo and Bicep, Endgrain’s highly anticipated Frame Relay EP is a diverse collection of high impact club music, laid-back slow jams & everything else in between. From the silky-smooth leads of “Soul Float” to the sub rattling bass of “When I Step”, the up-tempo drum workout of “Cabala” to the haunting sample work of “Summer Falls” – as well as well received previous singles “Heavy Lifting” and “4 x 4” – May deftly uses his debut to announce just how savvy and dancefloor-focussed he can be in the studio.
Having already received support from FBi Radio, BBC Radio, Triple J, InTheMix, Purple Sneakers, Pilerats, Ripe Music & community radio nationwide, May’s EP stands tall without needless sonic clutter. Gritty, raw and effective, the release showcases a producer confident in his ideas and abilities.
With an enthusiasm for quality and a DIY-attitude, May is also one of the brains behind Sydney’s renowned Translate Sound System. After attending some of Europe’s leading electronic festivals, May and two friends were inspired to build their own high-quality, high-output sound system to help power Sydney’s thriving underground party scene. In addition, May regularly sends his music to London to be pressed to acetate, allowing him to play unique, all-vinyl sets of original material through his own custom-built system. He has performed at warehouse parties across Sydney, as well as powering the sound for events such as Picnic, Rimbombo, Yolk & Dungeonamonst others.
