A Quick Chat with CG5

You’re touring in Australia for the very first time in February. What are you most looking forward to?

I’m really excited to be hitting up Australia! I’ve had such a great reception from fans over there, and now I get to see them face to face. It's definitely going to be a rewarding part of the tour, especially with all the energy they bring. I'm ready to share new music, experiment with the show’s flow, and connect with everyone in a new place. I’m also stoked to try some Aussie food, to be honest!

I’m also really looking forward to meeting Jet, a 12-year-old fan who is getting his wish through Make-A-Wish Australia. Jet, who’s been a fan of my music for years, is living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and autism, and I am going to have the chance to meet him at my Melbourne show! I’m so thrilled to be part of making his wish come true. His energy and passion for my music are inspiring, and it’s moments like these that remind me why I do what I do. I can’t wait to meet him!

What can people expect from a CG5 concert?

The show is a full experience. I've built it around a storyline with character moments, props, outfit changes - it’s meant to feel like you're stepping into a whole world, not just watching a concert. Of course, the music is the heart of it, with a mix of fan favorites and some new tracks you might not know yet. But the energy from the crowd is everything, so we’re all part of it together.

You’ve been uploading music to the internet since you were 13 years old. What has changed and what has stayed the same?

So much has changed, from how I produce music to the tools I have at my disposal now, but at the core, I’m still the same as I was when I started. It’s about staying creative and trying to experiment. The fans are such a huge part of it, too. They've grown with me, and it's like a family. What’s stayed the same is my passion for making music that connects, whether it's about a game, a show, or something personal.

When did you realise you wanted to combine your passion for gaming with your passion for music? What came first?

Music was always first for me, but when I discovered how gaming and music intertwined in the community, it just clicked. I saw the way people connected with music from their favorite games and shows, and it gave me a chance to share both sides of my world. Making songs for games was something that just felt natural. I never really saw a big divide - it was just about finding the right way to merge the two.

You have 7.7 million YouTube subscribers. How does it feel to have your fans who usually watch you through a screen be able to watch you perform live?

It feels surreal. You know, these fans have been watching me through a screen for so long, and now to see them in person, to hear them singing along - it’s a totally different vibe. It’s humbling to know that the music I’ve created has reached people across the world. It’s also energizing - I’m always amazed at how much the live shows can bring us all together.

What’s been the most memorable part of your music career so far?

It’s really tough to pick just one moment, but if I had to, I’d say that first moment when I sold out a big venue in LA. It was a big milestone, seeing that kind of support in real life. It hit me hard. But honestly, just being able to create and share music with a community I love - that’s what keeps me going.

What’s next for CG5? Is there some new music on the horizon?

Absolutely! I am dropping Part 2 of the PROJECT U MOVE film this Friday, 2/21. A new single called LA LA LOVE and music video that coincides with this film release will be dropping on Friday, 2/28! You can check it out on my YouTube Channel
