Congrats on the release of ‘Always’ you tell us a bit more about the song’s meaning?
Thank you! We’re so happy to have this one out. At it’s core, ‘Always’ is about the sudden loss of a relationship, and the feelings that come with trying to cope with no clarity. The outward projection to my friends and family as opposed to how I was feeling interiorly was a really big part of the writing process, and a theme we tried to convey in the music video we did for the track.
You’re playing Hyper Fest soon! Anyone on the lineup you’re looking forward to seeing?
We absolutely love Fool Nelson and their music, it’s always a pleasure to see them play, let alone be on the same lineup. We’re heading down south in WA in early March with them for their debut Australian tour. It's gonna be such a fun time, we can't wait to share the stage with them.
Which Australian songs do you have on repeat right now?
We’ve got so many talented people coming out of WA right now, some of our favourite tracks that we’ve been listening to are ‘So What’ by Polly and ‘Dial Tone’ by Paint. Both of these bands are so amazing and are releasing some absolutely killer music, we’re so keen to see what they’ve got planned this year!
What was the first gig / concert you ever went to?
For myself (Fyn) the first gig i ever went to was Guns & Roses when I was 9 or 10. It was quite a while ago but I do remember enjoying ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ despite that being quite a random first show for me to go to. For Mitch, his first concert was The Waifs, For Tex, it was John Butler at Nannup at the young age of 4, and for Vanessa it was Miley Cirus back in 2011. Quite an interesting mix in summary.
When you’re not all making music, what might we find you doing?
Vanessa has just started up her own jewellery brand, so when she's not smacking the bass, she's making some beautiful handmade rings and earrings! For Mitch, he’s heavily into music production and mixing, so when he’s not playing with us he's either recording local Perth bands in his home studio, or mixing a track. For Tex, he's got his own music podcast that focuses on the local Perth music scene and interviewing acts. And for myself, I’m quite interested in guitar gear, you would usually find me researching my next imaginary purchase.
Ultimate car snacks on tour?
Nothing can beat Shapes. More specifically, cheese and bacon Shapes. Most underrated flavour of all time.
What’s plans for 2025?
We’ve got our debut EP on the horizon with another single on the way, as well as an EP launch show somewhere down the line… more news on that soon though! As for shows, we’ll be playing down at Nannup music festival, then, as we mentioned earlier we’ll be heading to Margaret River and Albany with Fool Nelson, and to wrap up this line of shows we’ll be playing at Hyper Fest 25!
