A QUICK CHAT WITH AURATEQUE

Congratulations on your single ‘Renegade’, what are your plans to celebrate its release?

While it isn’t announced yet, we’ll be celebrating with some huge shows that we’re so stoked about. Also, we might just pop some champs and do some burnouts in Matt’s driveway.

Can you tell us about the band regarding the roles and how you all first met?

Aurateque was a two-piece for years before forming into a full band! Guitarist Matt and vocalist Lauren had been jamming together in different projects for years before deciding to pursue music seriously. One day, they decided to get it together and meticulously plan everything from the brand, the sound, the visuals, and the message - and after about three years of writing, recording, and creating a brand we decided we should take the leap and form the band. That’s where Luke (guitar) and Tristan (drums) come in!

We had known Luke for years and when he left his previous band, it was a no-brainer for everyone involved - especially since we’d wanted to work with him for years! As for Tristan, he got in touch with us via a Facebook post after Lauren realised she’d ghosted him for about two months. We auditioned him and were absolutely blown away by his skill. We’ve been together for a year now!

What would you say is the difference between ‘Renegade’ and your previous single ‘Hurricane’?

The most notable difference is that ‘Renegade’ is a lot heavier, reflecting more of our chaotic side whereas ‘Hurricane’ is a lot more representative of our pop-punk & electronic influences. This song is special because even though it is a much heavier, riff-driven track, it encapsulates so much from our overall scope of influences within a single song. Stylistically, it can be somewhere in-between ‘Hurricane’ and the more abrasive, heavy moments of our debut single ‘Paradigm’. In terms of the lyrics, they’re angry and confrontational as opposed to the introspective themes of ‘Hurricane’.

What has been your most notable live show to date?

We’ve just come off the back of a tour with Ghostseeker (ex-Storm The Sky) where we sold out our first-ever Melbourne show! This was such a massive achievement for us and the whole tour was easily a massive highlight of our time as a band so far. It was such a pleasure trekking east coast Australia for the first time with those legends!

What can fans expect next from Aurateque?

More music and lots of it! You can expect to be hearing it right around the corner. We’re on the cusp of a big announcement so follow us on the socials and on our Spotify page to get yourself in the loop.
