To acquaint you with the talented TALLOU, we caught up with her to learn more about her musical journey.

Can you tell us what this track means to you and what you want people to take away from it?

Writing this with Jude York & Sleepy Benjamin was a highlight of collaborations, from the first greeting to the getting the final master. We all come from family bands and bonded over similar experiences and opportunities.

I want people to chill out and enjoy the vibey track, but also maybe reminisce/reflect on how they navigated finding their independence in a new relationship as a young person.

Who are some of your influences and why?

I’ve been really digging into some Aus music lately, referencing sounds from Greta Ray & May-A. Lizzy McAlpine & Holly Humberstone’s whole catalogs have also been on repeat constantly!!!

What's the creative process for you, from writing through to recording?

It’s always changing, but recently I’ve loved collaborating with producer/writers to write and demo at the same time. Bouncing off another creative is pretty special sometimes.

What do you think makes a great song?

Personally, when a song makes me feel something. Whether I’m dramatic crying, crazy dancing or vibing out to a good beat.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

Probably Lizzy McAlpine. Her writing is so organic, I love where she chooses to place her melody’s and quirky chords. Also I would die to get John Mayer to play on a track.

When not working on music, what other creative outlet/s do you have?

I’m too crazily obsessed with music. I love going to gym and staying active in some form each day, or my insomnia and over thinking brain doesn’t want to shut down at night. This is generally when I wrote music too as a result

Who are some local bands we should check out?

My pals JUNO are absolute killing it lately with new music and a legit game they released too. Another beautiful gal Lucy Korts is working on new music I’m excited to hear.

Winter or summer and why?

I grew up by the beach on the Sunshine Coast, then moved to Toowoomba. I absolutely DIED the first winter and dreaded having to melt the ice on my car in the mornings. I’m going to go with summer.

What else do you have planned for 2023?

More music, more collaborations and maybe a cheeky SEQ tour.
