A Quick Chat with Belle Haven

Congrats on the release of ‘fauxlove’! What was the inspiration behind this track, and how did it come to life?

Thank you, I really appreciate that. ‘fauxlove’ dives into the push and pull of craving intimacy and closeness while also fearing it—like wanting to dive into the deep end of a pool but being afraid of the water at the same time. We were already a few tracks into writing our EP, something new, (which drops on October 4th, definitely go pre-order it), when we started working on ‘fauxlove.’ We wanted to write a fun track packed full of energy, and the song fell together so naturally—it really was just meant to be.

Belle Haven has amassed a pretty impressive following over the years, what do you want your listeners to take away from this track?

Yeah, we've been so lucky to have the support we've received over the years. With ‘fauxlove,’ we want our listeners to know that this is the beginning of something new for us. We're focusing on making music we aren’t hearing elsewhere—something genuinely unique to Belle Haven. It's a fresh chapter, and we can't wait to see where it takes us. Belle Haven is here to stay.

You guys have been rocking the scene now for over 10 years. How has your sound and approach to making music changed and evolved since then?

Our sound and approach to making music have both changed dramatically over the years. We've definitely laid off the heavy riffs and screaming a bit. Our music is still emotive and more authentic than ever, but songwriting in Belle Haven feels a lot more dynamic and well-rounded now. Our approach is very "all hands on deck." The three of us are deeply passionate and involved in pretty much every aspect of Belle Haven, not just writing music.

What do you guys get up to outside of all things Belle Haven?

The three of us are very health-focused in a holistic sense, which is probably the most prominent thing in each of our lives outside of Belle Haven. Whether it's getting up at the crack of dawn to train at the gym together, discussing what foods to eat or prioritise, or helping each other navigate personal life stuff, we're all about looking after ourselves and each other. We keep each other accountable and make sure we're all on the right track—the same track, even.

Coming off the back of a hiatus, what are you most excited to get back to as a band?

Technically, we came back from hiatus about 18 months ago. It’s just that we've only really been dipping our toes in since then. Now, we're feeling so excited and ready to really push full throttle into the future of Belle Haven. The first stage of that for us was writing and now releasing our new EP, something new. But there's so much more to come. So much more to do. This really just feels like the beginning.

Any hints as to what is to come for the rest of 2024?
Our new EP, something new, drops on October 4th, and you can pre-order it now to help us crack the top 50 on the ARIA charts. Before that, though, we're playing at Bigsound Festival in Brisbane this September, which we're very excited about. There might also be another single and music video—who really knows? We do have a lot of unannounced touring around the corner, so stay tuned by following us on Instagram (or any other social media), joining our mailing list, or all of the above. We'll keep you updated.
