A Quick Chat with Buffalo Paradise

Congrats on the release of ‘Dressed Like Me’! How does it feel now to have the track out?

This track is huge. It's our first release since dropping our debut album late last year, and it marks the start of a whole new musical era. "Dressed Like Me" was the first song we laid down after the album sessions, this time in a completely different studio with a fresh production crew. Maneuvering through that new environment, meeting new faces, and honing in on our musical vision made the whole process a damn thrill for the entire band.

Can you tell us a bit behind the song and what it’s about?

The song is essentially about being your own person. Someone’s life may look amazing from a distance, but everyone’s got their own shit going on that you don’t know about. If you try to ‘dress like me’ you’ll be ‘stressed like me’.

How was the creative process while you were writing ‘Dressed Like Me'?

It was a really organic process. Guitarist and vocalist, Angus and Lachie, came to the band with an idea and demo of the original song and then the band turned it into a more complete vision. Parts were added, sections rewritten and the song came into the completed version it is today. Its always fun to reflect on the original demo compared to the song we now know so well and see how far it's come… We always joke about releasing the demo version as opposed to the studio-produced one, because we’re so stoked about both!

You have seen an impressive amount of support from your previous releases through Triple J and more, what has been the standout moment for you in terms of that support and / or any other achievements as an artist?

We've been blown away by the love and support from our fans, especially in the thriving indie scene in Sydney. We've had the privilege of selling out some great shows and working alongside some of the top-tier production engineers in Australia. It's been an absolute thrill to have Dressed Like Me premiered on the legendary JJJ Unearthed TOPS, and to receive ongoing backing from the incredible team at Triple J. We're truly grateful for all the opportunities that have come our way and can't wait to see what the future holds.

Have you got any live shows coming up?

We don’t have any specific shows organised at the moment - a few of the band members are taking well earned breaks from Sydney to travel the world in the coming months. The good news is that we have a ton of new music in the pipeline, and we're eager to hit the stage again as soon as possible, starting from the winter season and beyond. Look to the band socials around then and there will be plenty happening!

Now that ‘Dressed Like Me’ is out – what is coming next for Buffalo Paradise?

Well, we're already deep in the creative process for our second album, and we've got some killer tracks that we'll be dropping throughout the year. Plus, we're always writing and coming up with new material, so we'll have enough tunes to fill another album in no time. We can't wait to keep the music flowing and keep pushing the boundaries of our sound. Stay tuned
