A QUICK CHAT WITH CHIARA CHRISTO

"Try" is such a heartfelt and emotional track. Can you share what inspired you to write it and the personal experiences that shaped its story?

“Try” is deeply inspired by my own experience with heartbreak and the raw emotions that came with it. At its core, it reflects a time when I was holding onto hope, even though I knew I might get hurt again. It’s a song about vulnerability, resilience, and the longing to give love one last chance, even in the face of uncertainty. While I’ve moved past those feelings now, the track captures a poignant chapter of my life that many people might resonate with.

How did you approach the songwriting process for "Try"? Was there a specific lyric or melody that came to you first and set the tone for the rest of the track?

The songwriting process for “Try” actually began with the beat. I had a clear vision in mind and shared it with my producer, and hearing the beat come to life instantly set the tone for what I wanted to express. Once I landed on the first line of the song, the rest flowed naturally—each lyric felt like it was writing itself. I ended up completing the song in just two sessions, which speaks to how connected I felt to the story I was telling.

The song explores themes of longing and vulnerability. How did you translate those emotions into the music and arrangement to create the right atmosphere?

To capture the themes of longing and vulnerability, I focused on keeping the music and arrangement intimate and heartfelt. The production has a delicate balance of simplicity and depth, with the beat providing a steady pulse that mirrors the heartbeat of someone yearning for connection. The use of gentle instrumentation, layered with subtle dynamics, creates a sense of raw emotion and introspection. Vocally, I leaned into a softer, more emotional delivery to let the lyrics take center stage and fully convey the story. Every element of the track was designed to evoke a feeling of openness and honesty, drawing listeners into the emotions at the heart of the song.

Were there any challenges in crafting "Try," whether it was in writing, production, or finding the right sound to match the song's message?

One of the biggest challenges in crafting “Try” was ensuring the sound truly reflected the vulnerability and rawness of the song’s message. Even though it’s an R&B track, I wanted it to feel delicate and intimate, allowing the emotions to shine through without being overshadowed by the production. During the writing process, I had to tap into deeply personal emotions to make sure every lyric felt authentic. On the production side, it took time to find the right balance—creating a sound that was soulful and layered while still maintaining a soft, heartfelt atmosphere. It was a process of refinement, but in the end, everything came together in a way that felt true to the song’s essence.

"Try" is about holding onto love even when it's difficult. What do you hope listeners will take away from the song when they hear it?

I hope listeners feel a sense of connection and understanding when they hear “Try.” It’s a song about the complexities of love—how it can be both beautiful and challenging. My hope is that it resonates with anyone who’s ever struggled to hold onto something meaningful, even when it felt uncertain. Ultimately, I want listeners to know that they’re not alone in those emotions, and that there’s strength in vulnerability and hope, even in the hardest moments.
