A QUICK CHAT WITH CHORES
Hey guys, congratulations on the new single ‘Tremble’. Where did you draw inspiration for this one?
We started this one with the vocal sample on over the drops with a simple percussion pattern. LÂLKA worked on the vocal melody and we built the track around it. What drew us to the sample was it had a chanting vibe similar to something you hear in the latest Rufus album on tracks like underwater or PNAU.
Did you find it difficult creating a music video during Melbourne’s COVID-19 lockdown? It wasn’t too difficult in the aspect of we had so much time to write music without other distractions - work, tours, shows etc. so we got to spend a lot of time reworking and refining the track. The only things which were different is we couldn’t get in recording studios with singers, but we did zooms and email correspondence. I think the thing we missed is the energy in the studio when you know you are on to something winning there is a certain atmosphere.
In 2018 you guys won ‘Best Electronic Act’ at the New Zealand Music Awards, can you tell us how much this meant to you guys?
Yeah it was amazing! Definitely the highlight of our music careers - now we want to back it up and win it again, and some other awards in other categories!
What has been Chores biggest achievement so far?
Winning awards, touring and just playing busy shows is always an achievement. Little wins always keep us moving forward.
Can we expect more new music soon from Chores?
Yes!! This is track one on our working from home EP. We have a whole bunch more music coming very shortly!!
