A QUICK CHAT WITH MAJAK DOOR

Love the new track ‘Will She Leave You’. Do you think this one differs to your past releases?

We reckon our releases differ all the time! ‘Will She Leave You’ has those dreamy surf sounds that we love to dabble with, and this track certainly has more of a softer/gentler vibe compared to our last single release ‘Everybody Wants You’.

How did you guys meet and form Majak Door?

Frankie started the band with Row the original bass player, and they carried on jamming for a couple years, changing drummers so often that the lack of stability really stunted any long-term plans. We then met Louis, our lead guitarist, who then invited Joe, our current drummer, who then invited Max, our current bass player, who then brought our second Joe (keyboardist) to the lineup! It was such a butterfly effect. Once we all came together it was quite clear that this was always meant to be the final line-up, and I reckon our new music represents that well.

What has been your favourite memory as a band so far?

I think we all unanimously agree that touring is numero uno on our favourite memories list. Being in the van for hours, listening to music, playing cards, talking shit, as well as playing shows of course, among other things. We’re headin’ on the road as soon as we can!

Things have been tough at the moment; how have you guys been impacted by the current pandemic?

Well we had a year of shows lined up as many acts would have, so it’s been sad to not be playing shows every other week. It’s what we all looked forward to, and we can’t wait to see how our favourite bands respond with sick live shows, whenever it is that they can return.

Can we expect live shows from Majak Door after restrictions ease?

Playing shows every single night... We just want to play together again. We all haven’t even seen each other in a while now, and we just want to be able to hang out again. It’s looking like that should be soon, so fingers crossed!
