A Quick Chat with Dekleyn

Congratulations on the single! How does it feel now the track is out?
Super Stoked that it’s finally seeing the light of day! Cannot wait to see how the listener takes in the track.

What was the process of creating the music behind ‘Only You’? Did you know what the story behind the song was going to be, or did the music direct the sentiment?
We started with the moody instrumental that was definitely the catalyst behind the feeling of the overall product. We then went into a Zoom session to write with Miranda Ward (Blusher). Miranda had an initial vocal melody that blew us away and really pushed the session to move fast. The lyrics poured out from all parties to create what is heard today.

How was the process of collaborating with Sammi Constantine on the track?
This was a super easy experience that we loved! We approached Sammi to be a feature vocalist on the track and to our delight she was happy to. Matt recorded the vocals with Sammi at her home studio in what he describes as the easiest 2 hours of vocal recording of his life. (Unfortunately, I’ve put him through some hell recording my vocals over the years...)

What are some of your most notable experiences and/or performances as Dekleyn so far?
Our sold-out headline shows definitely take the cake for our most notable experiences; that feeling never ever gets old.

You had recently sold out your Oxford Art Gallery Bar show - what can fans expect from your live shows? Compared to our recordings we bring a lot of raw energy to our shows. This mainly is due to us incorporating our live drummer Joel, who is an absolute beast behind the kit and uplifts the entire set.

What are your biggest goals for 2023?
Our highest priority is to complete and rollout our 2nd full-length album! We’d love to make our way onto the festival scene for the summer also if the opportunity arises.
