A QUICK CHAT WITH KING IV

CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE NEW TRACK AND WHAT YOU WANT PEOPLE TO TAKE AWAY FROM IT?
'See You Later' is a motivational source for an individual seeking pleasure and reducing conflict in one’s life. When we follow our desires, passions and human impulses, our whole emotional world breaks loose. Sex, power, and every devil in our nature is brought to light when we become acquainted with our most mortal cravings. I wanted See You Later to be a promise, offering that freeing feeling that a night of passion can create.

WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR INFLUENCES AND WHY?
Philosopher Carl Jung greatly influenced the themes of this track, his quote on passion and desires aligned so clearly with the message I was trying to convey in the song: “Passion is a source of fire, a fullness of energy. A person who is not on fire is nothing. They are ridiculous, they are two-dimensional. They must be on fire even if they make a fool of themselves. A flame must burn somewhere, otherwise no light shines; there is no warmth, nothing.”

WHAT'S THE CREATIVE PROCESS FOR YOU, FROM WRITING THROUGH TO RECORDING?
Personal experience tends to influence my creative processes the most. I draw inspiration from life’s most impactful moments. See You Later was written after I returned home from a night out clubbing. I remember feeling completely love-bombed by the person I was out with. It was all-consuming and intoxicating. I felt so high off this feeling that the song literally poured out of me within minutes of sitting down to write.

WHAT DO YOU THINK MAKES A GREAT SONG?
The rise of pop music’s cookie-cutter culture has disturbed me deeply. Anything that is uniquely itself, unafraid to experiment, and written from the individual's soul will strike a chord with me.

CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT SOME OF THE THEMES YOU EXPLORE IN YOUR MUSIC?
Without hesitation I will say that hedonistic lifestyle, personal transformation and stepping honorably into claiming our own unique identity are the mainstay themes of my music exploration.

IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH ANY ARTIST, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
I feel like Rob Zombie and I would make something really fun.

7WHEN NOT WORKING ON MUSIC, WHAT OTHER CREATIVE OUTLET/S DO YOU HAVE?
Truthfully, music is my one true outlet. It is what I pour all my passion, time, sweat and tears into; to create something that speaks from the recesses of heart.
So, if I had to list something, does clubbing count? It’s the most cathartic activity outside of music-making I can think of.

WHO ARE SOME LOCAL ARTISTS WE SHOULD CHECK OUT?
I’ve really been enjoying watching Limerence’s movements (@it_b_limerence).

9WINTER OR SUMMER AND WHY?
Winter. I was born in the Snowy Mountains and summer is the bane of my existence.

WHAT ELSE DO YOU HAVE PLANNED FOR THE YEAR?
Developing my music in the silence and seclusion of the last few years, this track heralds the beginning of a paradigm shift in music and creativity for King IV that is emerging together with a transformation into a new era. Keep an eye open.
