A QUICK CHAT WITH LOOSE BRICKS

What are the themes and stories that led to the creation of ‘Right Now’?

Having endured the most lockdowns in the world living in Victoria, we really were left reflecting on life and memories that we’ve made over the years. We started to wish we could relive moments as we couldn’t escape our reality of lockdown. The theme of this song flips the mindset and encourages people to enjoy what they’re doing. Even though the song is about a night out with friends, the same principle can be applied to life. Focus on what you’re doing, enjoy those moments and cherish the memories that you’re creating. Live in the right now.

How did the Better Beer endorsement come about for your video?

We played a couple of support shows for Big Twisty in June this year and met some rad people who happened to work for Better Beer. We felt that the message of the song really aligned with the ethos of Better Beer and so we sparked up a conversation with the people we’d met, they were completely on board. We’re excited to release the video and very thankful for Better Beer’s support on the project.

In your band’s lifespan, what are some of the most important lessons you’ve learned about collaboration and expression?

Collaboration and expression are pivotal in a band. Even internally it’s so important that everyone is willing to collaborate with the other members and that everyone is comfortable to express emotions, ideas, thoughts and feelings. We are constantly working with others, our booking agent, photographer, graphic designers, other musicians and artists, and having had the experiences that we’ve had we feel strongly that open communication is the most important aspect. Clear communication leads to great ideas, quick conflic resolution, strong goal setting, organised projects and just about everything else that is needed for a band to operate smoothly.

What have been some of your greatest live memories?

A few years ago, we supported Hoodoo Gurus as well as Kingswood at Village Festival in Queensland and that was incredible. There were thousands of people there both nights we played. It honestly was a dream. We also played our first shows in Perth with DICE and that was elite. DICE are some of our best mates and they bring an awesome crowd so the whole weekend was so much fun, but man, Perth know how to go to a gig!

With the year closing out, what can we expect from the next chapter of Loose Bricks?

We are heading off on our Right Now Australian Tour in November with Jacob Fitzgerald so grab a ticket for a show! We also may have another summer single for you soon so check out our socials for updates on that front.
