A QUICK CHAT WITH MOBS

1: Can you tell us the themes behind ‘Big World?

‘Big World’ was written about the movie ‘Honey, I Shrunk the Kids...’ and the subtle background love story going on between two of the kids. While the overall theme of the song is standing up against the odds, and taking whatever life gives you. Together you can make it through.

2: The retro aesthetic you have as a band is intriguing. What was the catalyst to these ideas?

We became heavily inspired by artists such as; Phil Collins, Go West, Hall & Oates, Whitney Houston, etc. We wanted these influences to shine through with the poppy, melodic music we were creating. Once we came up with our sound, this new school meets old school blend of 80s pop and modern pop, we decided to just lean into the whole ‘Retro’ vibe!

3: If you could write the music to any film of your choosing, what would it be?

This is honestly exactly what I want to do one day haha!

If we are saying I can retroactively write a song for any movie that is already out, then I would have loved to have written a song for any John Hughes movie or for the movie ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’

But also, if we could have one of our new songs in the new ‘Top Gun’ movie, I think we’d all be very happy!!

4: How do you hope people will resonate with this new single?

Our main hope with this track is that people have fun with it! It’s such a catchy song, with a fun vibe. About how even if things are going bad it doesn’t matter, we can get through it together! The goal is for people to be blasting this track in their car as they’re driving down to the beach.

5: Where can we see MOBS play in the near future?

We are actually off for a headline tour in China! Then we will be supporting The Dangerous Summer in Melbourne on 15th of December.

Hopefully you’ll also see us in the UK & the US early next year!
