A QUICK CHAT WITH NEDR

Can you tell us a bit about your inspiration for your single ‘Stood Here Too’

This song was inspired by a friend who was packing up her late grandfather’s home. Dominik Dale and I really tried to communicate the loss but also the closeness of packing up a loved ones home.

What are your influences and how do they affect your songwriting?

For this song I was heavily influenced by  john mayer and worship music especially in the bridge.

What’s the creative process like for you?

It can vary but it either starts with an instrumental idea or a story that I feel needs to be told. This song started with chords which then inspired the Melodie’s and lyrics.

If you could change something about the Australian music industry what would it be?

I would love to see more mentoring occurring from established Australian artists.

What do you think life would be like for you if you didn’t have music as an outlet?

I wouldn’t be able to properly regulate my thoughts. I would also be a lot slower to make sense of situations. Honestly, the thought of this scares me!

Is there anyone you would like to collaborate with?  Why?

I would love to work with Lizzy McAlpine! She has such a conversational way of singing and writing lyrics. I’m always so drawn in because it feels so personal.

What’s your advice to young people who want to make a career for themselves in the industry?

Don’t wait to put music out. Don’t wait for the “perfect time”, more followers or a manager. The perfect time is whenever the song is finished.

Who’s the most interesting person you’ve worked with/met?

I would say Ben Abraham would be the most interesting person I’ve met. He gave me the unique opportunity to sing with him at his annual Christmas show where I sang his song “she”. His music definitely encouraged me to keep my Aussie sound in my singing voice.

Any plans for a tour on the cards?

Not at the moment, I’m currently in the midst of finishing off an album. Once that is done I’ll be putting on some shows for sure!
