A Quick Chat with Nick Reverse

What are your 5 top highlights of your music career so far?

Some of my career highlights were actually from this year. I recently played at a venue in Berlin called Kit Kat which was insane, definitely a highlight for me. Some of the best gigs that I've been to and played at also include  Pure, elrow, Resistance but nothing really beats playing at your own events. I created WeLove because I love playing for small crowds and whenever I play at a WeLove event, it's another feeling for me, it always gives me the type of euphoric energy that you really can't describe. When you have built a community from the ground up, it always has a special place in your heart.

How did you develop your sound, and who are some of your biggest musical influences?

When I started to play music professionally, I started with house music. When I was 19, I was massively influenced by Tedd Patterson at DolceVita and I said to myself “this is what I want to be”. Later on, my style changed towards techno, mainly driven by my love for Sam Paganini and Len Faki, then when I moved to Australia I started to play tech house mostly. Lately I’m going back into techno (groovy not hard), however I’m starting a new alias which is a techno live act, so I can separate my two favourite styles of music into 2 profiles. In any case, my biggest influence since day 1 has been Paco Osuna and he always will be! I was actually lucky enough to host him in Australia twice, it was the best feeling ever knowing the legend he is!

What's the creative process for you, from writing through to production?

I usually start with my creative side, throwing down all ideas that comes to my mind, then I do the technical side of it fixing all sounds etc, then I have another creative part where I play around, get a bit silly with the synths and beats and finally, I focus on quality sound and mixing down.

Can you tell us about your latest single? What inspired it, and what can listeners expect from it?

My latest release is “Psycho Killer” out on WeLove Recordings, with my friend Adiel Mora. We both love the original track and decided to make a tech/house version. Expect to feel totally elevated through this track, it's great if you need to focus on something important or gearing for an epic night out! Keep an eye oyt for some other releases though, one at the end of September and another one later in the year so keep an eye out!

What's next for Nick Reverse?

What’s next? I started playing live sets again in the lead up to my new alias launching. I played my first set a couple of weeks ago at a warehouse in Sydney and it was just next level. For me there is so much going on in the next few months, with more gigs, more releases and building my DJ school which I've been really enjoying!
