A quick chat with Nocturnal Animals
Nocturnal Animals pack a punch with their raw alt-rock/punk sound and they pair that with their skeleton boy personas on stage as seen in their press image. They've just dropped their anthemic new single 'SFOS' that stands for "So full of sh*t" so we had a chat with the band about the story behind their name, the skeleton boys and the strong Adelaide alt-rock scene.
Nocturnal Animals - where did the name come from and what is the story behind the skeleton boys?
The name Nocturnal Animals comes from our party side, when we go out and drink in the night we become animals!
The story behind the three skeleton boys begins with two bands, Chasing Claire and Baja Bleeders. The two bands fell apart but Dyl, Bamm and Stu came together to form a new band…. Nocturnal Animals, a relit passion for music and with ambition to go to the top.
Your new single 'SFOS' packs a punch, can you tell us what the new track is about?
‘SFOS’ is a track about the transition from feeling sad about a breakup to elated that you have new possibilities in life. One door has closed but now many more have opened. The chorus hits with an anthemic roar, we want the listener to be able to unleash and join us in the elation of saying FUCK YOU to an ex.
Alright, so the ex is moving out, many of us have been there before and we all know there is always something you wish they would leave behind. What would that thing be?
The DVD boxset of The Office….
How would you describe the Adelaide alt-rock scene? Can you recommend some bands we should be checking out?
Strong. The scene here is the best in Australia, we get overlooked in SA but we feel that will change with rising talent alongside us such as Agapanther, Larsen, Radix, Chelsea Manor, Wolf & Chain to name only a few.
Hypothetically, Netflix has given you the green light on your own comedy skit show. What would be your opening skit?
Instead of describing our skit, we can show you! Go to our Instagram page, _NocturnalAnimals_ Watch through our story highlights and you’ll find a treasure chest of comedy gold! What are you waiting for, head over now and don’t forget to hit follow!
The band has had a massive year with 'SFOS' being your fourth single in 2020, what do you have planned for 2021?
We’re recording an album, you can expect new music that will make you smile, scream and cry. We want to continue to expand the definition of what Nocturnal Animals is. We aren’t even a year old in our journey, we have more to explore and the world to conquer.
