A QUICK CHAT WITH TUSHAR

Congratulations on ‘Bloodshot Eyes’ – can you tell us a bit behind the story of the track?

I walked into a session with my producer/friend, Benny Tamblyn. Before we started writing, he told me about an experience he had over the weekend with an aggressive person. We dove into the story, and he had met this guy at a party for the first time. What seemed like an okay guy, quickly turned into some hyper masculine person who was just looking for a fight. Benny said to me that he just didn't want to "talk to him anymore" but didn't know how to get away from him. Awkward moments at parties turned into the fuel we needed to write this song.

Have you been in similar situations yourself and how do you take those experiences to the studio?

I feel like almost everyone can relate to encountering a hyper masculine drunk fool. There’s plenty of them out there unfortunately. I used to work at a venue/bar in Adelaide and we dealt with people like this every night.

For me, taking these experiences to the studio heavily relies on chatting to my producer. From there, I’m able to plant a seed in my head that could potentially grow into something worth writing about.

How important is it for you to be sharing music and what do you hope listeners are able to get out of it?

It is so important to me to be able to get my music out to the public. I am forever challenging myself to grow and gain more listeners and fans by targeting different countries with my music, not just Australia.

I hope that my listeners get to feel energised with this track. I want them to relate to the lyrics to the point where they’re shouting out the words and dancing like crazy!

You’ve had some incredible live show experiences! What’s been your most notable performance to date?

Playing my official showcase at SXSW Austin 2023 was one of the best experiences of my life. I had never played overseas before, so playing at a showcase like that was just an exhilarating feeling. I remember no knowing who would turn up, it was looking empty, then all of a sudden, right as we got on stage the crowd started piling in to watch us and we hit capacity halfway through our set and everyone was jumping around for us! It was an amazing feeling and I’m so glad I got to share that with my beautiful band mates.

What can fans expect from a TUSHAR live performance?

A lot of grooving around, positive and wholesome emotions to feel during the set, and a good vibe from start to finish. It’s the perfect show to spend with the people you love!

What are your plans for 2024?

I’m hoping to release more singles, with the chance to head out on my second tour either nationally or internationally. I’m just so excited to show everyone what else I have in store!
