Burleigh Heads is set to gain a new music festival with the arrival of Hey Sunshine.
The team behind Hey Sunshine are pleased to announce their inaugural ‘music party’, to take place on Saturday 14 October at Burleigh Brewing Co. Hey Sunshine is set to transform the taphouse and brewery space, with a nostalgia-themed stage construction, inspiring light show and innovative surf film projections by local surf-film makers.

Hey Sunshine is stoked to be showcasing psych-pop sovereigns The Belligerents as headliner, in celebration of the September release of their hotly-anticipated debut album Science Fiction. The Brisbane five piece, revered for their intoxicating live performances, will take to the Sunshine stage, showcasing their new songs and old favourites including their latest releases ‘Flash’, ‘Caroline’, ‘In My Way’ and their legendary triple j Like a Version of Fatboy Slim’s ‘Praise You’, which catapulted the band into the Aussie music realm in 2015.

Joining The Belligerents will be Bootleg Rascal, all set to sonically delight with their hip hop infused, electro soul beats. Rounding out the main stage line-up will be a swag of up-and- coming bands from around the Gold Coast, Byron and Sydney. Hey Sunshine will proudly present Gold Coast’s own Peach Fur, Byron Bay’s Galaxy Girls and The Cinema Wristys, and Sydney’s Borneo and Thunder Fox. As an extra sweet treat, pop-up arts collective crew TheWonky Queenslander have been enlisted to pump up the party with their dynamic vinyl and electronic mixes in between bands.

Alongside the music, Hey Sunshine will showcase a live art feature to be raffled off for a local charity, surf films and market stalls. The goal for Hey Sunshine is to bring people together and send them home nourished with fond memories and new friends; to build upon the local music scene and provide a platform for young Gold Coast creatives.

Hey Sunshine director Anthea Bennett states - ‘live music events are so enriching to a community’s vigour and vibrancy and and I’m really excited to be adding Hey Sunshine to the flourishing Gold Coast music space’.

Tickets are available now via the Hey Sunshine website.
