Josh Cashman Announces 2021 Australian East Coast Tour
Josh Cashman will be celebrating the release of his debut album titled Now I’m Twenty-Five’ by going on tour across the East Coast of Australia in May 2021. After a difficult year for the live music scene, it is amazing to see some awesome festivals, hard ticket events and all round good parties being announced for a hopeful 2021.
After exhausting the early bird tickets for the Now I’m twenty-Five tour and as the general tickets have just gone on sale, we thought we would sit down with Josh to see what's in store for his tour and 2021 as a whole.
Thanks for sitting down with us Josh, last time we had a chat was just before the release of the album
(which is AWESOME by the way)
How have you found the response so far?
It has been so surreal seeing the album being played and shared far and wide. I have had such amazing support from my family, friends and fans. Hearing some of the songs played on the radio was so nice, there is a different frequency and a radio effect that holds over the mastered recordings when it's being played live to air. I have also had many messages from strangers sharing with me how some songs have really hit home for them, and even some getting my lyrics tattooed on them! Crazy stuff. I’m so happy.
Obviously it's been a while since you would have performed last, how keen are you to get on the road and what song from the album are you looking forward to playing the most live?
As we all know, this year has been tough. It will have been 15 months since my last performance / tour, so excited is an understatement. Being in the studio is one thing, but being on stage and sharing an energy with a room full of people is where I feel I belong. I cannot wait to play and have some sing-alongs to Melbourne Weather & Twenty-Five, and a real crowd favourite I’m thinking will be Money live.
We bet you will be having an insane time on this run, have you got any crazy tour stories you can let us in on?
When I was in New York, after a show supporting Tash Sultana, I had been drinking a large amount of Budweisers after the show. I stayed with a friend of mine that night and we had a bus in the morning to Philadelphia. We got halfway to Philadelphia when I realised I had left my passport at my friends apartment. My friend was so so nice & I still thank them to this day for catching a bus for 3 hours to bring my passport to me!
Any weird pre gig rituals?
I don’t like to poo at the venue. I’d rather do it before I walk in the room for sound check, makes me much more relaxed for some reason, haha.
Apart from the tour, what's in store for Josh Cashman 2021?
I have a collaboration on Tash Sultana’s upcoming album. We wrote the song 4 years ago, re-explored it and spent May 2020 re-writing and recording it. I have a truck load of new music ready to be taken into the studio, I have studios starting to be booked before this tour to get to work, and get some new JC into the world. We’re going to be going pretty hard on music videos and more creative elements outside of the music too. I am hopeful to have album #2 ready before the end of 2021.
