The lighting bolt that is Mama Kin Spender tore apart Brisbane’s BIGSOUND, receiving rave reviews and wowing audiences with a 16-piece choir, providing a taste of this magical musical collaboration.
Punters in NSW and Victoria now get their chance to experience the combination of brooding guitars, primal drums and howling harmonies in November, with headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne, featured shows at Mullum Music Festival and Queenscliff Music Festival, and a showcase as part of Australian Music Week, offering a chance to sample the new album ‘Golden Magnetic’ ahead of its February 2018 release.
After recently releasing their explosive debut single ‘Air Between Us’,featuring a choral section including Ainslie Wills, Ryan Downey, Kira Piru, and Timothy Harvey, Mama Kin Spender premiered their new single ‘Bird In Your Tree’ on Double J and look forward to sharing a new video that gives life to the raw rattle and hum of a song that reveals a whole new side of the project.
With blissful harmonies and joyful refrains, backed by the full force of a choir, Mama Kin Spender is a sonic power to behold.
Successful artists in their own right, Mama Kin (aka Danielle Caruana) - an ARIA and AIR award nominee - and Tommy Spender, known for his previous roles in Custom Kings and Offcuts, as well as via collaborations with Gotye and Clairy Browne, are hereby united as powerhouse duo Mama Kin Spender. A long time coming, this artistic collaboration pairs these long-time friends and touring partners in a mischief-making musical partnership of joyous proportions.
