NOIRE ANNOUNCE DEBUT ALBUM 'SOME KIND OF BLUE' HEAR LEAD SINGLE 'REAL COOL'

“Real Cool” is the stunning first taste of Sydney band NOIRE’s upcoming debut album “Some Kind of Blue” due September 29 via Spunk Records. Traversing shoegaze, reverb heavy blues and indie rock, NOIRE - aka Jessica Mincher (vocals and synth) and Billy James (guitar) – are pros at crafting cinematic, smooth and moving indie pop music. Taking cues from the likes of Air, Mazzy Star and Nick Cave, “Real Cool” is a testament to this.

Jessica says of the track: "Real Cool is a tribute to Air – the bass line, CS-80 synths and transient feel. We wrote the verses in Sydney and completed the structure, chorus and production at a farm in Amamoor. It’s about the things you tell yourself when you think the one you love doesn’t feel the same anymore.”

Growing up in the small regional town of Gympie, QLD, NOIRE formed in Sydney in 2014 and shortly after released their debut EP Baby Blue in 2015.

Speaking about the impetus for embarking on their debut album, Jessica recalls: “Last year I went to see a talk by Miranda July at the Sydney Opera House, she said some incredible things like ‘I continue to forget and remember and forget and remember and forget and remember that I'm free.’ The next day I quit my job, Billy and I left Sydney and we moved up to a farm in Queensland, with no phone or internet reception for three months to write an album. We set up a make shift studio in the lounge room, next to the fireplace and tried to record something every day.” The album is produced by legendary Australian producer Wayne Connelly (Underground Lovers, You Am I, The Vines).

NOIRE are known across Sydney for their mesmerising, intimate live performances. The band are currently preparing to embark on a European trip where they will play a string of shows across London, France and Germany before returning to Australia in the weeks leading to their album release.
